This product works well for the most part; it juices fruits and veggies with ease. The one thing I noticed however is that it the machine itself could be a bit higher so that you can place a regular size glass under the spout. It is a bit inconvenient & time consuming to have to use a smaller size glass/container and then have to transfer the juice to a larger container.

Just purchased this last week for $[...] from Amazon based on reviews here. I have used it once to juice carrots. The juicing aspect is excellent. The pulp was much drier than that produced by a centrifugal Omega juicer I had a few years ago. I also used the carrot pulp to make a carrot cake and it also turned out great. In terms of handling, I don't feel very confident about the parts that extend out like a nose on the juicer. It is plastic and bends slightly downwards when you place the carrots into the funnel and press down to get the auger to process the carrots. Makes me wonder how much longer it can take the pressure before it breaks. But the company does warrant its product for 15 years. The cleaning is much easier than my old centrifugal and requires only to take apart the few pieces in the nose.

Now my real concern with this product - After only one juicing I took the nose apart for cleaning and noticed that the auger has scratch marks on it and also looks like some minute but visible particles are missing. The auger is made by GE using a plastic resin which it has trademarked as ULTEM. Here's what GE says about Ultem : "GE's Ultem resin is an amorphous thermoplastic polyetherimide
offering outstanding high heat resistance, high strength, modulus and broad chemical resistance". Here is the MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheet on Ultem): [...]. The particles of the auger likely ended up in the juice and the pulp, both of which I ingested. Now I am all for juicing health but don't want to pay the price of eating GE plastics along the way. Other reviewers have also stated the same problem. I am starting to think this is not an auger defect but rather the reality of the plastic auger grinding against the inner sides of the juicer nose. I am really tempted to just return this item.

Post Note, 11/14/09: I've now used the machine for a few days now and I don't see any additional scrapings on the auger beyond what I saw on the first day. I like this product enough to keep and look forward to putting it to use for nuts and leaf veggies also.

Very well designed, simple to operate, and functionally very efficient. Quickly and effortlessly extracts all the juice from a half orange. Has a 3-position pulp screen, which gives juice that is either as pulp-free as water, very slightly pulpy, or more noticeably pulpy. Very simple to assemble, disassemble, and clean (in the dishwasher, of course).

The automatic-reversing feature on the motor is a key advantage. All you do is release your hand pressure a little and the reamer reverses direction, a major aid to getting the job fully done in minimum time. On the first attempt, I had a pitcher full of juice (about a quart) in just a few minutes.

One caveat: carefully follow the instructions for removing the pulp screen from the strainer for cleaning. The two will separate easily by gently pressing the white retainer tab on the bottom of the strainer. (Your first inclination is to pry them apart.)

Bottom line: a really great value, and superb at doing what it's designed to do.

I just received my Breville juicer. Assembly was easy and I pushed a few carrots and peeled oranges through it. Those fruits and vegetables just seem to explode in there. My daughter calls it the detonator. The motor winds up and down like a jet engine turbine and, while it isn't quiet, my dishwasher makes more noise over a longer period of time. The juice was delicious, by the way. I am used to store bought juices and what really struck me was the greenness of the flavor. It wasn't unpleasant. I thought to myself, this is what juice should taste like. The texture was frothy - what I expected when the produce is blasted like that. Reminded me of an orange julius. I look forward to tomorrow. I have a seedless watermelon, some beautiful gala apples, and baby spinach to juice. Cleanup was not easy. The pulp glues itself pretty fast to the pulp container, so I suggest rinsing it out swiftly. There's a lot of pulp too. Somebody should write a cookbook for pulp from juicers. The manual that comes with the juicer has a few recipes that look promising. So, my initial impressions of this juicer are that it appears fairly well made, it is not an ugly appliance on the counter, it's not too loud, and it makes tasty juice. We'll see how it holds up to sustained use.

I had an 80 dollar Hamiliton Beach Juicer, it was okay, it got the job done but it was so loud and it broke after 2 years which was a year after the warranty expired. This one has a 10 year warranty which makes me feel a lot more confident in it. It rotates very slowly, about 80 rpm, and it doesn't heat juice up. It does produce a bit of foam, but the strainer will strain out any foam or pulp which takes about 20-30 seconds at most. The juice tastes better than with the Hamilton Beach, and it seems to taste a bit "richer" almost like it's less watered down (not sure if that's really the case, but that's how it seems). Also, it's really fun, because you can see the auger chew up the fruit and veggies so I enjoy using it. Clean up is no problem because the juice screen is about 90% less surface area than with the Hamilton Beach, which was a Centrifugal juicer, so it was a pain to clean up. This one clean up quickly and can be put in the dishwasher's top rack to clean it even better (don't put it on the bottom rack, i found that out with the hamilton beach's pusher and it warped, the top rack is much cooler and is made for plastics). Anyways, this one is quite awesome, I'm sure the 8003 and 8006 are just as cool too but this is the one I got, and I like it.

I saw an infomercial for Jack Lalane's Power Juicer and began doing some research on "beginner level" juicers. The Breville got much better ratings, so I thought I'd give it a try. I've had it for about a week now, and use it several times a day. The motor is no louder than any other appliance I own, and the speed at which juice is extracted is incredible! The machine didn't require any major assembly whatsoever, and clean up is a breeze. I do recommend using a plastic grocery bag in the pulp container because it makes clean up that much faster...not that it isn't already fast. I'm so impressed with this machine, I've recommended it to several friends who are interested. If this is Breville's "entry level" machine, I'd LOVE to see what more advanced users use! This machine is simply perfect in every way...easy to use...easy to clean...and easy to store. I HIGHLY recommend this unit to anyone interested in purchasing their first juicer or replacing an older one. If this unit ever konks out...I'll definately replace it with the same. I'm thrilled with it's performance, not to mention the sleek design. LOVE IT LOVE IT LOVE IT!!! I'm able to put whole apples (skin and all) in 3 at a time for the most glorious juice ever...5 medium sized carrots at a time (great with fresh ginger root)...peeled oranges...bosc pears....experimenting with fruit/veggie blends is pretty fun, too. I was amazed that the "pulp" or peels...whatevers left after the juice is extracted is practically DRY...meaning that none of the juice is going to waste. Simply amazing. There are several great juicing books too...you can probably find them at your public library if you're not ready to purchase them just yet.

After much online research, I requested this juicer for mother's day! It was quite an expense but it's an investment in my health and I wanted one that would work well and last (I had a Krups juicer that died years ago). So far, I absolutely LOVE it! It is quick, easy to use, powerful, and clean up is a breeze! I wash all my veggies ahead of time and wrap them in the fridge so they are ready to go anytime I want juice, it can't get easier! The chute is the biggest I have seen so it requires minimal cutting. I love the suggestion of putting a bag in the pulp container for easy clean up. I remove the ziplock bag when done, and can put it right in the freezer for future use in soups or baked goods. It makes great juice, easy to use, and easy clean up. I hope it lasts me for years to come!

I never had really considered getting a juicer, but saw a great sale on this was at Amazon, so figured what the heck? I love fruit and frequently drink store-bought stuff so thought I'd give it a try. And I must say, this machine is awesome! It's a piece of cake to use, cleans up fairly quickly and really produces a pretty good amount of juice that is totally pulp free. I love trying different combinations and it all just tastes great! My only gripe is that citrus has to be peeled first which is kind of a pain, but a minor one. This is a fairly sizeable machine and fairly heavy, so do make sure you have space for it. It makes a good amount of noise when running and definitely would not be safe for children.

I got this juicer for my wife as she LOVES making lemonade from scratch. This thing is a lifesaver for this activity. She was going to make a larger batch (Like 24 lemons) just before her birthday so I gave it to her early and she loves it. Basically effortless to use and it does a great job. Little mess and it saves her hands a bunch of straining. It is well made and I have no complaints. I would definately buy it again. Only complaint is that it could have a larger base so that a larger bowl or a pyrex measuring cup could fit between it. Other than this small issue I give it a thumbs up.

I have used my new juicer for several weeks now and think it works really well, especially for the price. It has exceeded my expectation on how much juice it produces and how easy it is to clean. My only wish is for the juice catching container to be a bit larger. I often have to swap it out for another glass and then mix the two portions together when I am making enough juice for two people.

I have juiced difficult things such as kale, ginger, and basil and it handled them all quite well.

We got this juicer after going thru some of the reviews about different juciers at amazon. We are very happy to have this one. It is really a good juicer. You can put the whole fruits directly and in just seconds fresh juice is ready.

The design is also pretty good its not really a huge one. Container looks small. Its get filled very quickly.

1) The large juicer attachment falls off every time I juice a big grapefruit because it doesn't 'snap' on top of the small juice head. Additionally, the 'large' attachment isn't that large so it can really only handle fruits no bigger than an orange.
2) It's harder to clean than my last juicer (Krup) because it has twice as many parts to clean.
3) The motor jams 50% of the time when juicing large fruits like grapefruits and oranges.

I have used only one other juicer (at work) which costs twice what the JL juicer does. It had a fairly small capacity, though and we were constantly having to empty it. Now that I use the LaLanne juicer, I realize how wet the pulp is which means inefficient extraction. When I juice mango it is inevitably in small slices and some of it goes through without being juiced. I juice a quarter of a pineapple at a time, and small slices of that end up in the pulp basket without being juiced. Once or twice I have had to stop the machine and remove the slice which was blocking the chute. Carrots and apples go through without a problem. It runs quietly and is easy to assemble and use. Parts go in the dishwasher, but I end up washing it by hand. The pulp basket needs scrubbing with a brush, but washing inside the chute is easy because it is wide enough for my hand. (Not so with juicer at work.)You can use the pulp for baking. I put mine in the compost.

I read review after review in searching for a juicer (Santa's Christmas present to me). I am new to juicing so it was really the only thing I had to go by. I have been using my juicer for about a month now and I absolutely love it! I can't imagine it being any easier to use. I don't much like peeling oranges before I can juice them whole. I keep wondering if a citrus juicer would be better for oranges. Either way, I still love my Breville. Even if I invest in another small citrus juicer I won't feel disappointed with this one. It's quiet, it's fast, and cleanup is simple and fast. There are only four pieces that you have to wash out when you're finished juicing, five if you don't use a plastic baggie in the pulp container. The juice is fantasic. I was a little wary of how it might taste because my mom bought a juicer a few years ago and the juice it produced was awful. Also, if you are like me and you don't care for pulp in your oj or any other juice then this juicer is the one for you. There is almost NO pulp in any kind of juice that I make. What little bit of texture that is there (depending on what kind of juice you make) is hardly noticeable. My 7 yo. also loves all of the juices that I make, which speaks volumes if you have kids. Anyway, we could neither one be happier with this juicer and I'm glad I spent the money on this one because it was worth every penny. I contemplated getting a less expensive one since I was new to juicing but eventually concluded that spending $300 and loving my juicer was better than spending $150 on one and being disappointed - I made the right choice. Delivery was very fast from Amazon.
